Belgian musician Johan Verckist is a gentle dogmatist when his Wardrobe project is involved. He didn’t want the musicians to hear his compositions for his debut album Crawling before they entered the studio. Like the great session players of the early Seventies they had very little time to “learn” them, ensuing in a happy marriage of craftsmanship and spontaneity.
For new album, Giving Up A Ghost, Verckist did just the opposite. He spent months shaping his songs in every detail with producer Bart Vincent (Melanie DeBiasio, Kapitan Korsakov, Inwolves) just to get every sound right. As a result the album has more mature sound but never loses it’s mellow catchiness.
